135 acres of wetlands, fields and
forests were protected by conservation easement in the historic
and scenic Bean River Valley in Pine Plains.
The protection of this property
completes a critical habitat network of 575 protected acres in
the area.
Pleasant Valley, 111 acres of forest
and valuable breeding habitat were protected by conservation
easement. This scenic property is part of a larger contiguous
forest that extends for hundreds of acres and contains 34
acres of statewide important farmland soils.
One of the single greatest land
protection efforts in Dutchess County, 1,650 acres in Stanford
and Pine Plains were protected by conservation easement. The
property not only represents the rural character of Dutchess
County, but links a contiguous protected area of more than 4,200
acres in the Towns of Stanford, North East and Pine Plains
