DLC is Applying for Land Trust Accreditation!
Dutchess Land
Conservancy is pleased to announce it’s applying for
accreditation. The land trust accreditation program recognizes
land conservation
organizations that meet national quality standards for protecting
important natural places and working lands forever. A public
comment period is now open.
The Land Trust Accreditation Commission, an independent program of
the Land Trust Alliance, conducts an extensive review of each
applicant’s policies and programs.
“As an organization that has been doing exceptional conservation
work for the past 23 years protecting over 27,300 acres, becoming
Accredited is a very important next step for DLC. It will publicly
demonstrate our commitment to excellence and will provide our
supporters and members of the public with the assurance that we
meet established national standards for organizational quality;
that we are operating in an ethical, legal and technically sound
manner; and that we have the policies and programs in place to
keep our promise to protect land forever,” affirms Becky Thornton,
DLC’s President.
You are invited to comment on DLC’s application!! The
Accreditation Commission invites public input and accepts signed,
written comments on pending applications. Comments must relate to
how DLC complies with national quality standards. These standards
address the ethical and technical operation of a land trust. For
the full list of standards see www.landtrustaccreditation.org/getting-accredited/2008-indicatorpractices.
