Dutchess Land Conservancy and The Nature Conservancy

Saturday, September 24 9:00 AM at the Thompson Pond Preserve

Join the Dutchess Land Conservancy and The Nature Conservancy for the final day of our three-part Trail Maintenance series on Saturday, September 24 from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Thompson Pond Preserve in Pine Plains, NY.

Have you ever wanted to learn more about how trails are developed, how they are maintained, and how proper trail development can support ecosystem function while connecting us with nature? Join The Nature Conservancy and Dutchess Land Conservancy for a trail maintenance day, Saturday September 24, 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM at the Thompson Pond Preserve in Pine Plains, NY. As we work, we will learn about the importance of proper recreation management - especially around wetlands - as the pond is the headwaters of the Wappinger Creek. Join us for a morning of volunteer work, then enjoy the beautiful hiking, biking, paddling, restaurants, breweries, and wineries Dutchess county has to offer. There will be activities for all ages, from raking and brushing the trail to flagging a brand-new trail! Lunch will be provided.

What to bring:
  • Snacks
  • Water
  • Clothing appropriate for the weather
  • Waterproof footwear if possible
  • Insect repellant

Where to meet:

  • Lake Rd. Pine Plains, NY 12567
