The Bontecou Preserve is currently not available for public access while we work on our Management Plan and improvements. The Bontecou Preserve is an incredible gift. It is currently not available for public access. The Donor's wishes are very specific with regard to its use for wildlife conservation, farming, and access to the public. We have engaged Hudsonia to do a habitat study and will work with the Dutchess County Soil & Water Conservation District on a farm plan, both of which will help inform where public trails should be located, as well as our proper care and management of the land. We hope to be able to open the Bontecou Preserve to the public at some point in 2024.
