Pamela Governale joined the Dutchess Land Conservancy as Director of Conservation after more than 20 years dedicated to protecting the natural and cultural landscapes that define communities and foster a sense of place. In her role, she works with landowners, municipalities, conservation partners, and community members to advance land protection and stewardship across Dutchess County.
Before joining the DLC, Pamela served as Director of Preservation at the Garden Conservancy, where she led a national preservation program. Earlier in her career, she worked on community-based planning and environmental initiatives throughout New York City.
Pamela studied psychology at the University of Colorado and earned a certificate in charrette planning from Harvard University and the National Charrette Institute. She lives in Rhinebeck with her husband and was drawn to the Hudson Valley by its unique connection between conservation, culture, and community. She believes the region’s natural and cultural landscapes are vital to its identity, economy, and future, and is passionate about protecting the farms, forests, and open spaces that define the character of the Hudson Valley.
