Dutchess Land Conservancy & the Town of Dover
Saturday, April 25, 12:00 to 3:00 PM at the Dover Stone Church Preserve
Celebrate the opening of a brand new trail at the Dover Stone Church Preserve!
Please join the Dutchess Land Conservancy, the Town of Dover, and our partners, volunteers, and friends at the Dover Stone Church Preserve on Saturday, April 25 from 12:00 to 3:00 PM for the official opening of the Seven Wells Trail! The new trail connects the existing Red Trail at the Dover Stone Church Preserve with the magnificent series of waterfalls found at Seven Wells. The Seven Wells Trail leads across lush forests and rocky outcrops to the unique geological features that have been carved into the bedrock by the cascading Wells Brook.
The grand opening will include remarks from the DLC, the Town of Dover, and our partners highlighting the long-term conservation efforts that have permanently protected this landscape, as well as information tables and a free lunch.
Following the lunch and remarks, two guided hikes to the Seven Wells will be offered:
Hike 1 - Includes a discussion of the land protection efforts that made the new trail possible, as well as the trail planning and building that went into the creation of the Seven Wells Trail.
Hike 2 - Includes a discussion of the flora and fauna that inhabit the preserve, along with the management and restoration work that will be taking place through a partnership with Hudsonia, LTD.
Please note that the hikes are each roughly two miles in length and will be over various terrain with some elevation gain.
