4 H Web NewsThis spring, an exciting new partnership has sprung up between the DLC and Cornell Cooperative Extension’s 4-H program, in the form of a three-session Special Interest (SPIN) Club called Conserve Our County.
The group learned about the DLC and the history of our landscape, brought soil samples from home to analyze, drew maps of their own homes and neighborhoods, and went on two field trips to local farms.  At Brookby Farm in Dover we met the Vincent family, sampled delicious milk and cheese, and helped to bottle-feed young calves, while at Wethersfield Farm in Stanford we toured the spectacular and historic gardens and learned about the work done on the farm to develop agricultural techniques such as crop rotation, contour strips, water management and drainage, and reforestation.
