Rock Steady Farm co-owner Maggie Cheney led an online listening session on farmland leasing in the first of our 2022 Down to Earth Workshops. Every year, the DLC, along with our partners in the Columbia Land Conservancy, hosts workshops for farmers, land owners, and those interested in farming. The first in our 2022 series of Down to Earth Workshops was a listening session with Maggie Cheney, co-owner, co-founder, and general manager of Rock Steady Farm in Millerton. Their experience over 20 years of farming and training new queer, trans, and BIPOC farmers helped to set the table for a robust discussion that included many questions and answers about leasing farmland, resources available for farmers, relationships with landowners, and farm finances.
